High CPU usage and various bugs

Thread needs solution

I had 2016. Was very unhappy about. Upgraded to 2018 hoping something should have changed to better. Am disappointed even more.

1. I cant find build/version number anywhere (I see posts here about updates - I cant verify what version I am running). I just see ATI 2018

2. There is TrueImageHomeService.exe process eating up to 20% of CPU (I have high end i7) Note: Active Protection is switched off

3. If I open ATI UI and then close it (by clicking on X button) - TrueImage.exe stays in memory and eats additional 12% CPU. This happens every time - so I have as many TrueImage.exe copies as I have open/closed them.

4. There are 3 processes related to ATI besides the UI TrueImage.exe and 5 installed Windows services.

I am going to find an alternative and ditch this. You have become Norton - your marketing efforts killed the software ingenuity. Now you ATI is just clumsy pretentious nothingness.

maxima, we are just a User Forum here so can only offer our personal advice or suggestions etc, not resolve any issues that may be in the ATI code.

The version / build information is found in the main ATI GUI on the Account page - see screen shot below:

I do not see any TrueImageHomeService.exe process listed on my computer in either Task Manager or the Services console plug-in?  What I do see in Task Manager is as below with no Acronis process taking any CPU.

The above is with the main ATI GUI open and not taking CPU either.

If there Acronis Services that you do not use, such as Sync Agent, NonStop backup etc, then you can change the service to either Manual or to Disabled.

See KB 60522: Acronis True Image 2018: Windows services and processes  for a list of all processes and services.

If you have upgraded from an older version of ATI and potentially, previously upgraded from other earlier versions, then I would recommend doing a clean install of ATI 2018 as you may be seeing a problem that is being caused by having remnants of those earlier version(s) present on your computer.

The TrueImageHomeService.exe indicates that a backup or restore is in progress.  It would certainly require a lot of cpu usage.
