Just able to clone, nothing more, only less

Thread needs solution

Hello to all!

For my backups with this app is since TI 2010 that I'm trying to have a good incremental backup working, either as a drive clone or files backup, but ALWAYS UNSUCCESFULL.

This disappoint include also this version of Acronis TI, the 2018 one!!!

First full backup, ok. Second incremental backup, error!!!!

Why if you have more than few Gb of data to backup with TI, since 7 YEARS, IT IS NOT ABLE TO??

I have a 5Tb drive with 3,22Tb of data, I want to back it up as a clone in another 8Tb backup drive, incremental.

Nothing to do, everytime, with all the TI versions, I have to run back the fantastic and still the best backup software in the market: East-Tec Backup 2009

East-Tec, also if it is a dismissed software since 8 years, it's still the best, managing Terabytes of datas as anyone never do (I tryed several actual sofware in the market, soon or later everyone fail)

I'm quite sure East-Tec 2009 will be the best also compared with the next Acronis TI 2025!!!!!

In 7 years, in ALL the features the TI has, ONLY one has always works fine: Clone the system drive, replace the drive, restore the software. All the others stuff are only smoke into the eyes to justify the price, nothing more, only less!!

Andrea, I am not sure if some of your comments have been obscured by being translated into English but there are definitely some mixed understanding in what you have written.

Please see KB 1540: Difference between Backup and Disk Clone - you can read this document in your native language if it will help make the subject clearer to you.

Very simply, you cannot have a Clone and do Incremental backups or clones.

A Clone is in essence a whole disk copy, so Source Disk == Target Disk (both identical)

A Backup is a compressed image of the Source Disk which is stored on a Target Disk, so depending on the size of the Source data and the Target Disk, you could possibly have more than one compressed image stored on the target disk.

Acronis True Image has always been capable of successfully backing up all sizes of data from a few MB's to 100's of GB in my personal experience of using many different versions of the software.

You're right, I just confuse the terms

All that trouble raise with drive backup or files backup, not disk clone.

As file backup it fail, as a drive backup it fail when it has to do the incremental image, the first full one was succesful.

This is a non acceptable condition for two reasons: it's not a free app and it's a bug present since years, tested by me, as a Acronis customer since 2010

At the end I bought it just to backup the OS drive 2 times per month, I think it's more secure than the best AV in the world.

Anyway, next time I'll choose different Software House, there are many surely working better and cheeper on the market today

If you would like to investigate why you are having a problem when making incremental backups for your data, then please download the MVP Log Viewer and use this to look at the messages which Acronis True Image write in the log files for each backup task.

You can post details from the log file here in the forum if you need help understanding the contents.

The alternative here is to open a Support Case directly with Acronis Support - you have support if you have purchased the 2018 product version and Acronis can investigate this problem with you.
