Ransomware e-mail

Thread needs solution

Ever wonder what a ransomware e-mail looks like?  I did not click on the link, but I am confident this is some kind of malware and most probably ransomware.  Note the From: and To:

Randy, I see lots of suspicious emails with or without attachments and delete 99.9% on sight, though I will submit most of these to the SpamCop service in an attempt to get the hosting mail or web server accounts closed down.

With any of these types of messages, I always look at the Source view of the mail before considering any other action - the source shows the often obfuscated sending email address and the actual links behind any click here items.

Another give away in these messages is the poor sentence construction or grammar.

In your message image: 'You have pending doc to view' instead of 'You have a pending doc...' and when have you ever had someone append a message by saying: 'said:' (without the use of capital letters...).

Finally, if you really want to know if the attachment is malware, then save it then upload it to the Virus Total web service - NOTE: only do this for actual attachments - do not click on any web link to download an attachment!  Attachments will show as a paper clip or similar depending on the mail client being used.
