Shutdown after backup - other options?

Thread needs solution

Hi I'm new to Acronis Trueimage and still getting to grips with all the options.

I have discovered if the PC is sleeping it can be woken up to backup, but I want to do the opposite, and put it back to sleep afterwards.

However the only option seems to be "shutdown".  I don't want the PC fully turned off, just back to sleep / hibernate.  Is this possible?  Have I missed an option somewhere that specifies what sort of "shutdown" is desired ?

Cheers
Alan

Alan, welcome to these User Forums.

This is really a case of using the options for your Acronis backup tasks to prevent the computer from going to sleep or to hibernate, then letting the normal system power options for sleep take over once the backup task has completed.

If you are running a scheduled backup task, then on the Schedule settings page, expand the Advanced settings section and make sure that the "Prevent the computer from going to sleep/hibernate" option is ticked.

On the Advanced settings page of the task, open the Computer shutdown section and ensure that the "Shut down the computer after the backup is complete" is not ticked.

Finally use the computer Power options to set when the computer will go to sleep for when plugged in / on battery, which should come into effect when the system becomes idle after the backup has completed.

The only other method would require using a Post-Command and run a tool such as Sleep Shortcut (for Windows 10)

Hi Steve, thanks for your detailed response.

It sounds like "sleep shortcut" is exactly what I want, and have it run after my backup is complete.  Normally I manually "sleep" the PC before going to bed, now I can fire off a backup and have the backup issue the "sleep" command afterwards.  Or on a schedule have it wake up, backup and sleep again in the middle of the night!

Cheers,
Alan
