TI 2018 intermittently fails
I'm running TI 2018 B 12510 on three systems, one desktop which has shared drives that my two laptops backup to. Intermittently the two laptops will fail "the last backup has failed. Cannot open the backup." From TI, both laptops can open the location and have full access to the shared drive. One laptop connects to my wireless network and the other has a wired connection. If I keep attempting to run the backup by clicking on the "Back up now" button in TI eventually it will run. All PCs are running Win10x64 with the latest updates. Currently, both laptops are backing up to the same shared drive which is a WD 6TB black drive with 1.7TB of free space. The backup drive is directly connected to the MB in my desktop.

John,
The error you state sounds to me like TI is failing because it finds the backup task destination location already open. This can happen if you are attempting to share the same folder on the same drive for backups.
To prevent this you need to have individual folders for backups for each PC sharing on the drive. Example:
- X:/Laptop 1/Backups/
- X:/Laptop 2/Backups/
This should fix such a problem.

OH Crap, I just clicked on something and lost the reply I was working on.
Steve, all of my shared drives are internal to my desktop and directly connected to the motherboard or a controller card in the desktop (see the Speccy image). Currently, I do have two USB drives connected to the desktop, one is a failing SSD and the other is a USB drive. I'm moving all of the data off of them to drives internal to the desktop, e.g. they are NOT shared out thus the laptops don't see them.
Following is one of the logs via the MVP Log Viewer tool
07/29/18 23:37:27: Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false;

I can see that it had an error but to me, it is not meaningful.
Enchantech will the following present a problem for the paths to the backups?
- J:\BU\Acronis\JGT-HPLT
- J:\BU\Acronis\Kat Dell
The final folder is not shared by the two laptops but the parents of the final folder is shared.
New finding.
I was just looking at one of the laptops and noticed that it had lost connections to all shared drives. I use Xplorer2 as my file manager, If on the laptop I click on "My PC" I see a red X for all of the shared drives on the desktop (see the attached image). On the laptop in Xplorer2 I clicked on the T drive and the contents was displayed in Xplorer2. I seem to recall that I had this issue in the past but at this time I cannot remember the solution. I just looked at the other laptop and it is accessing all of the shared drives that it should.
At this time I'm assuming that this old issue has struck back.

John, thanks for the update & log. It does look like you are losing the network mapping to the shared drives for some reason?
The shared parent folder shouldn't pose an issue - I have essentially the same type of arrangement on my NAS where all backups go to the Backup parent folder, then into individual folders per each computer below that.
