Dario, welcome to these User Forums.

Most of the recent versions of Acronis True Image are capable of creating a backup of Linux EXT2/3/4 file systems and of restoring the backup back again.

ATI can only work with image files which it has created.

The way that you can do this will depend on your Linux system.

If you are dual-booting Linux alongside Windows on the same computer, then the backup / recovery can be done from with Windows using the ATI application.

If your Linux computer is on its own hardware, i.e. a standalone system purely running Ubuntu, then any backup and recovery has to be performed by using the Acronis bootable Rescue media on CD/DVD or a USB stick.

I have both of the above types of systems.  Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on a laptop with Windows 10 as dual-boot, and also a dedicated Dell computer running the same Ubuntu (with no Windows OS).

Hi Steve, thanks for your feeedback,  on my ubuntu laptop i do not have dual boot, only ubuntu, and i believed there was the linux version of True image for that OS.  So i have to use rescue media.
Thanks !

Dario

Dario, there has never been a version of ATI that could be installed on Linux systems as far as I am aware.  There is a version of the Acronis bootable Rescue Media that uses the BusyBox Linux distribution as the means of launching the standalone ATI application.

The Linux Rescue Media was the default for all versions of ATI until the 2018 version, where this has now changed to defaulting to creating Windows PE media (if possible to do so).  The Linux media is still available as a download of an .ISO file from your Acronis Account, or can be created using the Acronis Media Builder tool using the Advanced method.

Hi Steve, yes but i kown ( and i've used)  there is an Acronis agent for linux ( cloud backup ) i thought there could be ATI for such OS.

Anyway i'll check for using PE media instead.

Thanks

Dario, the Acronis Backup business product offers a Linux agent as far as I understand - see KB 60802: Acronis Backup 12.5: Linux components, services, and processes which mentions the same.

Hi  Steve, yes i know about linux agent as i'm using Acronis Cloud for my office,  i'm using ATI for my privates laptop at home.

Thanks.
