Acronis to Access Files While on the Road

Thread solved

I have Acronis setup to backup to multiple external drives daily & incrementally.  If I bring one of those external drives with me on the road to connect to my laptop (laptop also has Acronis installed) to access files, does Acronis work like that?

I typically really only use it to restore a computer if needed.  I have tried to click a .TIB file in windows explorer on my main computer, but it takes forever to open anything.

This should work without any issues. If you rely on scheduled backups rather than manual backups, it may be worthwhile including a pre-command to check that the correct USB drive is attached - they command would check to see if there is a particular file on the attached USB drive - if it does not find the file, the backup aborts. I have not used this myself but many forum members have used this approach with success.

The speed of access to the *.tib file will depend on the size of the file, the speed of the USB drive, the power of the CPU and possibly the amount of ram on the computer.

@Ian, thanks for all this info.  That makes sense then as to why this file takes such a long time to open up.  The main file is over 3 TB & the 12 incremental backups make its total climb to about 3.5 TB.  So probably no matter what I do it will always take a bit of time to access the file.  But as long as I know it works to be able to copy things off in case I need to make an update.  That will work for me.
