Acronis says "The specified file does not exist" but it does exist

I have two backups, one from my computer and one from an external drive. I checked the places to which the backups are destined and the do in fact exist. So do the source places.

Any ideas?

Correction, one backup, not two. Also Acronis does not say what file it is talking about, the source or the destination.

Eddy,

Again, more information is necessary.  Where is the destination of this or these backups?  What are you attempting to do with these backups, recover them?

You should not need any more information. I already said the backup was from my computer to an external drive. Giving drive letters would be of no help. If you need to know it was from C to O.

Is your external drive connected via USB?  If so the drive letter randomly assigned to it by Windows may have changed after you setup the backup.  In this case you would get the error you report.

Verify that your external drive letter that was used in the backup task matches what you see in Windows Explorer.  If it does not then correcting that should solve the issue.

Yes it is USB but the drive letters are all correct and according to the ATI configurations. So are the folders of the source and object. It is unfortunate that ATI does not give the file names in the message.

Eddy, can you post the actual backup log file contents for where this message is given?  Use the MVP Log File Viewer if needed - link in my signature.

I don't see how to get the log. So I clicked on MVP but could not find a reference to the word "log" there. So is there a way to get the log from ATI?

Eddy, follow the link in my signature for the MVP Log Viewer tool from the Community tools KB document.  This is a standalone tool that doesn't need installing and makes accessing the logs very easy.  There is no direct way within the ATI GUI to access the log other than by using the Notification settings to send it by email after the task has run.

I still don't see it. I followed your link that shows a shield and MVP. Then in there I did a search and the word "log" doesn't appear. So I tried

But that didn't show a log either.

Can you please be very specific on the wording I should search for?

Thanks, I was clicking on the MVP logo.I can see that it gave some errors but finally said it completed. I wonder if it was just a left over message that displayed when the drive was disconnected.

Eddy,

I would say your assessment is correct.

I just ran another test. I have the backups set to run every hour. I have had the computer disconnected from the USB for a few hours. I reconnected and rebooted at 10:23 but I don't see a backup attempt. I have uploaded this log.

It is now 11:00 and it just started the backup. So it doesn't work as stated which was to start a backup at system boot ("Run missed operations at the system startup with delay in minutes 0".

I did see a useful option below that which says "Run missed operations when an external device is connected". It is getting late now so I'll test that tomorrow.

The 2nd log above should be replaced by this one.

I could be way off track here, but would using option to run on USB drive connection work. I am on the road at the moment so I cannot check, but I am sure I have a task set up like that - in addition to on connection it is set to run either daily of weekly.
