Clone disk without restart spotty in 2018, why buy 2019
I purchased 2018 solely for the advertised function of cloning a disk in windows without restarting. This function has worked less then 50% of the time with Acronis 2018 ,on all 3 of my computers. Notifying Acronis about this has resulted in no reply or resolution. I see that cloning without restart is now advertised in 2019. I've purchased every version since 2010, why in the world would I upgrade to 2019, for a function that I should have in version 2018, but do not? If it truly works in 2019, why wasn't it fixed in 2018?

Thank you for the testing and the explanation of why I have problems with 2018 cloning. When it did work for me, I must have been using drives that I cleaned with the DOS diskpart command, which I do occasionally. I just never connected the dots. I’ll upgrade one license to 2019, just to stay in the game. Cloning has been my preferred method of backing up; hard drives are cheap and, up until recently, easy to swap out. If/when I purchase a new laptop I’ll have to go back to full backups anyway; removable hard drives are becoming a thing of the past.
