Ensure that destination is accessible error

Thread needs solution

Hi .

I have been trying to back up my Hard drive now for a number of days using Acronis True Image  2020

See the  attachment for the error I am seeing about 2 hours after starting the backup .

The drive is an SSD Drive D: ) formatted with  NFTS file system

I checked the Drive using Chkdsk . It is ok .

I checked the Backup Drive using Computer Management  in Windows 10 . It seems ok . See the attachment for a copy of the screen .

I have selected a Single Version Backup Scheme

I can see a 68KB file Arconis has written to the destination drive folder specified for the backup  .

I am able to open a folder and write to a test text file in this folder on the backup Drive .

So I am confused why it is failing with the message "Ensure the Destination D:\Backup E5470\ is accessible " . It is accessible from what I can see.

There are no other details about the error or information to help  diagnose the problem .  This error occurs about 2 hours after the backup has started , the % complete bar is blank  up to the point where the error message is displayed. It was displaying a message ....Backing up  . ..Calculating time remaining .....before the error was displayed I believe .  I don't know why it needs to take about 2 hours to fail and ask the user to check the backup drive is accessible. It seems it does not check this at the start of the backup process .

I have been trying to resolve this since last Monday without success .

Please reply with any suggestion on how to diagnose what is causing the problem or what I can do to get backup working .

Hello!

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps:

- Check destination drive accessibility: Double-check the accessibility of the destination drive (D:\Backup E5470) by performing the following steps:

  • Open File Explorer and navigate to the destination drive.
  • Create a new folder or copy a file to that drive to verify if you have write access.
  • If you encounter any issues with accessing or writing to the drive, it may indicate a permissions problem or a hardware issue with the drive itself.

- Check if the disk is properly connected. Review the cables if they are being used.

- Try also to fix the installation file of the Acronis True Image and retry the backup after.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I had the same trouble since 2 weeks (True Image 2019), i follow the differents solutions provided on the forum but nothing succeed.

I do the following :

- in the windows explorer, i transfer all the previous backup files in a backup folder in order to keep a security backup

- in Acronis, i duplicate the backup process in error

- in Acronis, in this new backup process, i click on the destination folder, i manage to connect the destination disk & folder, the program asks me for my password of connexion and the connexion was successfull (with the original backup process in error, this connection always failed)

- in Acronis, i delete the backup process in error

- in Acronis, i run the new backup process, successfully

I hope that this can help !
