Tarda, welcome to these User Forums.

The error message in your screen shot says that there is a problem with the Microsoft VSS (Shadow Copy Server service) preventing the backup from being done. I would suspect that the same issue might impact any backup task using VSS on your system.

Please try downloading / using the Acronis VSS Doctor tool (link in my signature) and let the tool attempt to resolve any issues that it can. 

All my computers are pure Windows so not sure whether there are any particular differences when running Windows hosted on a Mac computer.

Program has been in status "Connecting to Acronis Cloud" for hours (more than two).

Use the tool in the link below to verify and troubleshoot your cloud connection.

Tarda, if the cloud verification tool does not show any error for this Cloud issue, then please open a Support Case direct with Acronis and quote support cases: [03473454] and [03463079] which I have had open with them since mid September for the same issue!
