Restore Drive to a VMDK drive

Thread needs solution

I have a Virtual Machine - I want to restore the image file to a newly created VMDK file. I have shared folders enabled - however the GuestAdditions.iso is not part of the media package so I can not get to my Shared folder where my TIB file is located - how can I do this ?

I should not need to create a bootable media to restore an image to a drive that is connected to the system.
If I do require to use the bootasble media -  should be able to install the VBBoxGuestAdditions  how can I accomplish this .
Method1: Install GuestAdditions into the Bootable Recovery Media?
Method 2: restore the image directly to a mounted disk ?
