This software just never seems to work correctly

Thread needs solution

Does anyone have experience with solving this latest issue?

TrueImage says that it can't find a main backup file... despite it being clearly visible in Windows Explorer:

I'm so close to abandoning this software and just using the built in Windows tools - heaven forbid I'd ever need to use it to do a recovery.

David, when are you seeing this error message?  Is this when you are doing a backup, or is it when you are looking at the Recovery panel?

Is there a reason why you have used a destination path with an underscore character in it?
X:\_TrueImage\

I have never used such characters in my folder path and haven't seen any similar errors as being reported here.

Hmm.  ATI obviously found the full backup file a few times or it would not have been able to create the diff files.  Did you move or rename the files since the last successful backup.

If this error showed up during a recovery attempt, which recovery tool did you use - the installed ATI?  A WinPE recovery medium?  A Linux recovery medium?  If this happened in one of the recovery media, I'd bet Steve is on the right trail.  I'm not sure a leading underscore is valid in all environments.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your response. The underscore is to differentiate the backup folder easily. That may be the problem, as you say. I'm running into it when I attempt to restore. It can backup fine.

My setup is 100% Windows based and I've only ever done the backups inside TrueImage.

David, in your picture behind the error message I see Acronis showing the list of drives under "My computer", but I don't see X: there. Where exactly is the X: drive?
