Hello Kevin.

Thanks for participating.

Please provide us with more details of your environment and context.

Did you uninstalled the program for example? If that happened the behavior is expected. You should add the old backup to the vault and just after you will be able to continue that backup or delete backups: https://kb.acronis.com/content/60918

Thanks in advance.

Acronis may fail to create new backups if there is insufficient free space available on the storage drive.

I did not uninstall the program and my backups go to a external drive only. They are not stored anywhere else. The program used to do a full back up and then just incremental after so my external drive did not full up as fast. It only does full backups now and the 2 tb drive fills up in a couple months. Maybe I should uninstall it and reinstall it and start from scratch.

I do not get that pull down menu. It just has delete or clone. none of the others

Kevin, if you only see delete & clone options, then it suggests that Acronis has lost connection to any backup files created by the task.  What is shown if you click on the Recovery tab for the same task?  Do you see the Clean up versions option for any other tasks on the same PC?

You are correct there is no data to recover yet in the recovery tab but the external drive does have back ups on it. how do I restore the connection? Thanks in advance. PS if I have to reinstall and start over it would be okay.

The easiest method of reconnect the backup files back to the task is to use the 'Add existing backup' option.  You can find this by looking to where the normal + Add backup option is shown then to the right of this is a caret 'v' which will reveal the further option when you hover your mouse over the caret.

Click on 'Add existing backup' then navigate to the external drive and select the most recent backup file for the task.

Steve thanks for the help and the info. I did not see this until I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. Luckily I still had the Acronis 8 disk with the key string. I had the acronis 2020 update string. You need both to reinstall. Things are working fine now. Thanks again
