Advice on Dual Protection, please

Thread solved

I was disappointed to find that Dual Protection (replication) is only available for disk or partition backups - my primary desire for the cloud is to provide the ultimate disaster recovery - i.e. a duplicate copy of my data and data base files. That means backing up 5 or 6 folders of files from my C drive, not the whole drive.
What is the simplest / most efficient way to back these up to a local drive and to the cloud at the same time - preferably using a scheme with full backup + say 5 differentials.

All ideas welcomed.

Richard, replication only works with .tibx backup files, hence is restricted to Disk / Partitions backups as Files & Folders still use the older .tib files.

Personally, unless you have got very high / good upload speeds along with a subscription for large Cloud storage, then replication is not worth the hassle!  This is simply because it does not cope with any upload failure and will restart the upload from the start if such an event, plus it mirrors your backup scheme, i.e. will keep uploading all files, including large full backup images.

You would be far better served by having a mix of local and Cloud backup tasks for your data, as these will perform more efficiently than using replication.

You would need a separate Cloud backup task but the advantage here is that it will only do one full backup upload to the Cloud, after which it uses a delta type incremental backup and uses versioning to capture and upload only changes to the core data.

Your local backups will give you fast access to any data along with the option of storing multiple copies of the data in different locations, including keeping a copy offline / disconnected from the computer to avoid any malware attack etc.

Steve  -- thank you for the explanation and advice - I think that sounds like the sensible way to go.
