ALL of my Backup files are corrupted, per error message

Thread solved

Hello,

I'm not sure what's going on here. I have Acronis 2020. I created a bootable Acrsonis USB key, using Acronis 2020. I boot off of that key and create complete backups of all of my systems to external 2tb USB drives each month. I actually use two separate external 2tb USB disks and alternate between the two each month. Every backup is a full backup, with a new filename (including the date) each month. I have successfully used my backups in the past to recover to a new hard drive in the past, so I don't know whats going on?

Hello,

Welcome to our community. I would like to kindly request your assistance in validating the backups and confirming their integrity. You can refer to the following link for detailed instructions: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2020/#38839.html

If the validation indicates any issues, it suggests that the backups may be corrupted and therefore unsuitable for recovery.

I would like to bring to your attention that various factors could contribute to corruption, such as network interruptions during the backup process, faulty hardware, or manual deletion of backups in the storage (which is not supported). Unfortunately, without a thorough investigation, we cannot pinpoint the exact cause of this behavior.

It is important to note that Acronis True Image 2020 is no longer supported, and as a result, we are unable to conduct the necessary investigation for that version.

Best regards.

Thomas, welcome to these public User Forums.

Where exactly are you seeing any error message(s) indicating that all of your backups are corrupt?

Do you have ATI 2020 installed within Windows?  What is the build number for this as shown on the Account panel in the main GUI ?  This should be build #38600 which was the final one released by Acronis.

If you are creating Disk backups using ATI 2020 from bootable media, then these should have the file extension of .TIBX and this should not be changed to be .TIB as was used for older versions as that would cause Acronis to see these files as being corrupt!

Hi Steve,

I don't have a lot of time today, but I did take a quick look at the files on my external drives. They do have the extension of ".tib". Each backup I do, I just change the date within the file name, so the extension never gets changed. They used to work. Did they change the extension after 2020 was released. I'll try changing the extension to ".tibx" and see if they validate then. I'll let you know later.

Thanks for the quick response!

Steve,

I changed the file extensions to .TIBX and now the files are validating. Thank you so much!

I thought I had done a recovery since upgrading to 2020, but apparently I had not.

Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New YEAR!!!
