Liam, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but too little information to give you an accurate answer.

What type of backup are you creating?
Where is the backup being stored, what is the Destination?
What options have you chosen for the backup?

Please download the MVP Log Viewer tool (link in my signature below) and use this to review the log file for your backup operation. This should provide more information on what is happening.

If you have selected to perform Validation as part of the backup task (set in the Advanced Options), then this can take as long as the backup to complete.

Liam, ATI time estimates have been quite inaccurate for many releases, but "less than 1 minute" has been particularly inaccurate since the changes in ATI 2020.  It appears that ATI simply fails to figure in the time it takes to perform some internal tasks.  I think "less than 1 minute"  used to imply cleanup before termination of the backup task but now it is displayed prior to some very lengthy processes ... such as validation.

It is important to realize that a long "less than 1 minute" does not imply that something is hung up in ATI.  It just means that that time estimate is being displayed way before it is appropriate.  Frustrating, but it is a bug in the time estimation, not a bug in the processes being performed.

Acronis is certainly aware of this problem.  It has been mentioned many times.  But it probably is not the most significant bug in their queue.
