C: Drive Partitions if I did a restore would it bring them back the way I had them

Thread solved

I have had some issues with my pc and I changed a partition in my DC drive computer management. I did remove the partition and now it just says unallocated which is fine with me as it does nothing.

Just for my peace of mind if I did a restore would that also set the partitions back to the original way that they were?

Any restore will set the partitions to how they were when the backup image being used was created, so if the backup was made before a partition was removed the restore would put it back again.

Steve, I am sure that when recovering using a disk + partitions backup that comprises the entire HDD/SSD, you can select one of three types of recover; (1) Disks, (2) Partitions - you select which ones to recover, and (3) files. However, when doing a selective partition recovery I would exercise abundant caution.

Ian, if doing a Disk restore, then all partitions are restored.  If doing a Partitions recovery, then only selected partitions are restored but the user has to configure the settings for each partition.

In this user scenario, best advice is to create a new backup of the disk after making any changes to partitions, then any future restore will reflect the same changes.
