Cannot recover the selected disk

Thread needs solution

ATI 2020

Trying to recover a system disk with 668GB of data. Image taken from a 1.8TB SSD and trying to recover to a 930GB SSD and getting only "cannot recover the selected disk"

So in theory there's 930GB - 668GB of headroom on the 930GB disk (262gb) , so why can't I recover to it?

Cant see any disk resizing option anywhere - which was mentioned in another post - apparently that users issue was exFAT partitions can't be resized on restore - but my System is NTFS.

It seems like it is related to the disk size, because I have another 1.8TB SSD on the system and I don't get the error message when I select that as the restore destination....

Is it really that the different sizes is the issue? I wish the error message was more informative ...

Kevin, welcome to these public User Forums.

Do you still have the original source disk drive and if so, what is the actual original data size and free space size?

I would suspect, just based on the basic information given, that the backup would expand to beyond the size of the new 1TB drive.

The log for the recovery attempt should contain more information to confirm whether that is the issue or not?
