Copied tibx file will not open

Thread needs solution

I have my Cyber protect backups going to a NAS file. Recently the server being backed up lost all network connections and it was necessary to restore from a USB drive.

I copied my backup from the NAS drive to USB and used the recovery disc to restore from this. However, under recovery the file is not recognised and says it is corrupt.

The backup file is a full backup, not incremental so should not have any other dependencies. I have tried doing this with other full backups from the NAS (which I know to be working) and yet once copied to USB they become unusable.

I have not been able to get an answer from Acronis support so I'm hoping that someone here might be able to shed some light?

Craig, if your backups are using .tibx files then they have dependencies on all other files created by the same backup task regardless of being full backups!

If you are going to copy these files from your NAS then all files for the backup task must be copied and kept together, and in particular the 12KB metadata file that is created as multiple files are added to the backup destination.

See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. I did try that but I will give it another go. Acronis support have told me that so long as they are full backups I can copy just one, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Maybe I need to copy all of them at the same time rather than copying them one by one.

Craig

Copying all files at once is the best way to do this and the most reliable.
