Despair of ever getting ATI to work for me.
I have subscribed to ATI for several years and now have the latest upgrade 2020 . ATI is killing my use of the PC. Backups are taking ages and use most of my CPU capacity so I can't even type this without having to wait for words to appear on the monitor. Moan over here are the facts.
CPU is AMD FX6100 6 core, Nividia Quatro K2200, 24 GB RAM, latest Win 10 - not the fastest PC but not a slouch either.
I try to run a scheduled backup based on a Differential scheme with a full backup every 5 and I only keep one chain. I backup 2 drives: C (an SSD) with all my APPs and user data, emails etc., about 200GB and a second drive (SSHD) with about 400 GB of photographs. They are backed up to a external drive, a WD 4TB USB 3 drive.
The backups are taking Upwards of 4 hours for the full backup and over a day for the validation which I set to run after every backup. The result is that the schedule time of the next backup is delayed and the whole disaster rolls on. My usual recourse is to stop the process and restart a new schedule every couple of days. Mean while some of my photo editing programs are virtually unusable.
Given that every review says that ATI is the best on the market, and other users on the Acronis forums speak of backups taking minutes (and complain!!) I must be doing something very wrong. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Frazer,
As Logitech points out Validation is slow due to the complexity of your backup plan. Each time validation is run it validates all restore points or chains of the backup plan (task). It is recommended that you stop running validation with every backup that is run and instead, run validation manually on for example the times when a full backup is created. Having said that you must keep in mind that all files within the task will be validated when you do so.
High CPU usage is a known issue for some users. Your best bet with that is to open a support ticket with Acronis and let them investigate.
