Disk cleanup taking days to complete...
Hi,
My backup disk filled up two days ago and I used the TrueImage GUI to delete two full backups and about fifty associated differential backups leaving the latest full backup and 15 differential backups.
Well, it's still going many hours later having progressed by only 10%! At this rate I will need to allow it to run continuously for four to five days in order to complete. The backup disk is a recently purchased high performance Hitachi 11Tb device so should have sufficient performance.
The performance monitor indicates that TI is reading 80 to 90Mb/sec from the backup disk and writing about 0.5Mb/sec back, the queue depth on the disk is 50 so I'm not surprised at the slow rate of progress.
I'm a long time TI user and had no issues with TI 2019, which used TIB format files. TI 2020 and the new TIBX format robs me of the ability to delete whole backups that I no longer need because of the dependency that TI creates between the very first backup file and subsequent backup files.
Right now TI won't even allow me to mount a drive from an old backup because "another operation is in progress".
Surely cleaning up whole backups should be much quicker than this? Shouldn't mounting a completely independent backup file be possible while clearing out old and unrelated backups?
Regards, Peter
