Email notifications not working - TIH 2020

Thread needs solution

My True image home is no longer sending out email notifications.

I have it set up with the correct SMTP server and authentication. My ISP uses Zoho and they have port 465 with SSL and/or TLS enabled. I have this configured. I get an error stating unable to send test message. Check email settings. This is in the individual backup job settings. In the main settings, I try clicking on the "Change email notification settings" link, but nothing happens. I also tried using smtp.gmail.com but it seems that may have changed to G-Suite users only and is not longer available to regular gmail users.

Can anyone help?

Mark, the use of port 465 SSL in all current ATI versions is deemed as being insecure and is not accepted by the majority of ISP's for this reason.

Please try the combination of port 587 and TLS which is working just fine for me when using the regular Gmail servers at smtp.gmail.com (with support for insecure apps enabled for my Gmail account).

See KB 59265: Acronis True Image: how to set up email notifications about backup status - and KB 46840: Acronis True Image: Troubleshooting E-mail Notification Issues

thanks for the reply. I did try the 587 w/TLS. The 465 was given to me by my ISP specifically and was for them, not Google. It seems counter productive to enable support for unsecure apps yet use TLS or SSL.  I really don't want to enable that, but I guess I'll have to.

Mark, one reason that I use Gmail for these notification emails is that it is effectively a throw-away email account that doesn't get used for anything else of importance, and the emails themselves don't contain anything of value to hackers etc.
