external HD backup

Thread needs solution

I use a pc with windows 10 pro and and have Acronis True Image 2020.   I use the "single image" backup scheme.   Using the single image scheme when I backup the file which is already on the target external drive it is supposed to create a new backup file and then delete the older backup, however it never deletes the older backup file - help!   ps: the only file I backup is the operating system drive.

Thomas, welcome to these public User Forums.

The way single version backup works in ATI 2020 has changed due to the introduction of the new .tibx format backup files which use metadata for tracking backup activity.

This means that after the first backup is created, you will now see 2 files for the continuing backup, one which is only 12kb size containing metadata, and then a second file which is your single version full backup image file.

See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.
