How can I get the Acronis Survival Kit pop-up to appear.
How can I get the Acronis Survival Kit pop-up to appear. I had checked [x] "Do not show this again when starting a backup" after creating the 2019 version. Now I wish to update to 2020.

Installed 2020 when it became available and checked [x] “Do not show this again when starting a backup”. Best recall I used the following 2019 steps to create a survival kit after previously checked [x], however can’t find this in 2020:
- + Add backup
- Change source and choose Disk and partitions
- Select My USB 10TB Disk
- A link similar to “Create Acronis Survival Kit” would appear just below source and destination and above the options cancel and back up now as follows:
Backup
Change Change
….>….
source destination
Create Acronis Survival Kit
[Options] [Cancel] [Back up now]

William, have you tried just creating a new Disk backup task to your external HDD drive, to see if this give you the option again to Create Survival Kit?

Here’s is a way to create a survival kit after checking [x] “Do not show this again when starting a backup”:
-
Disk “My Book Backup (E:)” had a 2020 Acronis Survival Kit created in the past
-
Use WIN 10 Disk Management
-
Assign a letter to ACRONIS HM
-
Deleted all ACRONIS HM files and folders
-
Remove assigned letter
-
-
Start Acronis True Image 2020
-
Click-on “+ Add backup” located lower left of Acronis window to create a temporary backup
-
Click-on “Change source” and choose “Disk and partitions”
-
Click-on “Change destination” and choose “My Book Backup (E:)”
-
The link “Create Acronis Survival Kit” appears under the “Change destination” box
-
Click-on “Create Acronis Survival Kit”
-
The “Acronis Survival Kit” pop-up appears
-
Click-on [Create]
-
The “Acronis Survival Kit” pop-up appears noting “The “Acronis Survival Kit creation is in progress ...”
-
The “Acronis Survival Kit” pop-up appears noting “The “Acronis Survival Kit creation is ready”
-
Click-on [Close]
-
Delete the temporary backup
-
Verified “My Book Backup (E:)” backups were not affected
-
Verified boot “Acronis Survival Kit” worked as advertised

William, glad that you found a method of doing this and thank you for sharing with other users here in the forums.

What I'm finding is that Acronis appear to have taught its software to roll a pair of dice.
Every time I attempt a new backup with a PERFECTLY GOOD 1Tb or 2Tb disk with PLENTY of space on it, Acronis True Image 2020 rolls the dice.
If a pair of 6's comes up, then it shows the "Create Survival Kit" option.
If not, then tough sh*t it doesn't.
Of course, it doesn't actually show what it actually rolled, it just (normally) does NOT show the "Create Survival Kit" option.
So it looks like I'm going to have to take my chances with creating a recovery media on one disk/USB key and do my backups on other disks. Which rather defeats the object of what potentially is a very useful tool - something which, let's face it, should have existed in the product from Day 1.
Alternatively, Acronis' developers could actually make it WORK PROPERLY.
For example, how about displaying a message as to why the software THINKS that the attached disk ISN'T SUITABLE for having a Survival Kit created on it - with (and I know this ease-of-use idea might be a bit revolutionary) tips as to how to fix the problem??
We can but hope.
