Incremental backups not showing up in incremental setup

Thread solved

A few days ago I setup a new backup in ATI2020. I set the backup scheme as Image backup, Incremental with a new Full backup after every 5 incremental (see attached file). However when I look at the directory where the backup sets are filed all I see is a single tibx file with the date of the most recent backup. It is not marked as full or incremental. Is this the new way?

Bob, yes this is the new way. Each incremental backup will be included with the full in the same .tibx file. A new .tibx is created when the next new full backup is done. It will have the same name with -0001 added.

Eventually, with cleanups, secondary .tibx files will be removed, but the original will always stick around although its size will be reduced to 12KB. Don't delete that file. It is important to the backup task.

2020 has a new .tibx file extension that also uses a different naming convention. All incrementals are wrapped into a single file now.  You only will get a new file when you create the next full in the chain when using the incremental backup scheme.

when cleanup is run (properly through "cleanup versions" or the automated cleanup schedule), this will leave behind a 12kb file with the original file name that also needs to be maintained as it has metadata for all of the backups within it and is a necessary file for recovery.
