recovering from NAS

Thread needs solution

I had need to recover an SSD from the backup file I have on the NAS (where I back up to every night) so I inserted the WIN PE USB drive that I made on the PC concerned, booted and.......try as I might it simply can/will not "find" the NAS....so I am truly up that creek :(

David,

From the Recover My Disk option of the WinPE USB, click on the browse button then, in the path field type the path to your NAS.  Examples:

\\NasName\ShareName

or

\\NasIPaddress\ShareName

If the True Image application can locate the NAS and the Share it should prompt you for credentials if the share is password protected or simply display filenames in the share if not protected.

Great, many thanks...... the NAS location eventually came up but it took several minutes to appear

It is on 24/7 and everything in windows can see it instantly

ps....Why did I not get a notification of your reply?.. I believe it is set to do so

David,

Notifications of thread replies have been a hit and miss proposition for a long time here.

Glad you got things working with your NAS.  It does take some time for the application to resolve a network location but once it has it then things move along for the most part.  This problem is more noticeable the more devices that are connected to your network.
