Unable to do simple full backup & restore

Thread solved

Hi,

Using Acronis True Image for Western Digital, I’ve done a full backup of my Windows 10 PC onto an external USB drive. The Validation option of the backup says that the backup is valid. When I attempt an Entire PC Recovery using the backup it reboots and then fails with an error code 0x4001A, 138D. Please see attached image. Any advice on why I am unable to recover using the backup ?
thanks

Hello Nick,

You are using an OEM version of the product.

I advise you to contact WD to get help with the issue. Please refer to the following KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/2201

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried doing the recovery with the Recovery Media rather than using the Acronis Windows application. For information on creating recovery media see "2.2.2 Creating Acronis bootable media" in the Acronis True Image for Western Digital user guide - this creates a Widows RE recovery media which tends to work better than the temporary Linux installation that is triggered when doing a recovery using the Windows application.

Ian

Thanks all for your advice.

Hi Ian,

Thank you for your advice and sorry for taking so long to respond.

Your suggestion to try the recovery by creating the Windows RE Recovery Media worked perfectly and I was able to recover from my backups once I rebooted using  the Windows recovery  media.

Thanks again for you excellent advice

Best regards

Nick

Nick, glad you managed to achieve your objective.
