ATI 2020 and 2021 extremely slow backing up with Linux built rescue media
I've seen lots of chatter about slow downs, performance issues, tibx block chain versus tib and anti-malware slowing systems etc. and lots of people trying to troubleshoot issues and mine is just very very simple. I use the rescue media tool in linux built mode to create system images and restore those system images for QA testing. When I try to use ATI 2017 and 2019 in this fashion, I can back up a laptop system to a 57gb image in about 12-15 minutes. When I try to perform the same function using 2020 or 2021, it's all over the map and takes ages. First, yes, as I have seen reported, it does take a long time at startup to show progress as others have indicated, fine, I'll give you that. But then finally, it says it's going to take about 2 hrs to do! It runs....and it runs....and now it's 3 hrs.... wait...it's back to 2 hrs... now it's 15 minutes, but only for a short period...back to the 3 hour ETA.
Folks, this isn't rocket science. Taking Windows out of the equation, running in a pre-OS environment, something is incredibly wrong with the performance of 2020 and 2021. As I said, I am not a typical user who stores a backup and restores it from time to time. I rely on this tool to allow me to make backups of different test scenarios - Win 10 1903, 1909, 2002, 20H2 etc...and performance time to save and load is essential. How can I possibly use a tool that take 3+ hrs to do a task that used to take 12-15 minutes?
I returned 2020 and asked for 2019 instead because 2019 works, period. I took a leap of faith and just purchased 2021 to see if Acronis had actually figured out yet what went wrong and astonishingly, nothing has changed and in fact most people on the support forums are complaining about bloat and live backup issues. I don't see how live backups work at all, when they can't even get pre-OS backups up to snuff anymore.
Looks like once again, I will be asking for a refund and sticking with 2019 or finding a new alternative. This is broken.
Cheers!
Eric

Eric,
What device are you backing up to here? I notice that most complaints about slow performance are from laptop users which begs the question why?
TI 2021 and TI 2020 to a lesser degree perform disk integrity checking along with meta data checks of the backup files in some cases. For example, if you create backups of an incremental method then all files created by that method are meta data checked prior to the actual backup running.
Can you provide more information on the construct of the backup tasks that you run? Can you provide your laptop specs?
True Image versions prior to 2020 did not perform the checks mentioned here so this may be a part of the issue you are experiencing.
