Backing up music 'files' to home server

Thread solved

Hello, long time Acronis user here and I am finally baffled by something.  I have ~1.1 of music on my personal computer and have always used another program to copy music files to a server that acts as the repository for various music streaming gizmos in our house. I finally thought why not use Acronis for this?

I have run a couple of test and Acronis only creates a single file that I doubt could be read by squeezebox or MediaMonkey or the new CD player / streaming media thing I am shopping for.

So, is there a way to copy, file by file, to another disk? Seems simple enough.

Thanks in advance - Eric

Eric, any Acronis backup will compress files where possible and store them in a container file with a file type of either .tib or .tibx depending on the type of backup being performed.  These container files cannot be opened by other applications other than by ATI.

You can use the ATI Sync tool but this cannot be used with your home server unless it also has a copy of ATI installed to permit this, i.e. Sync is either between 2 or more PC's or the Acronis Cloud.

Hello Steve, from my testing that is what I suspected the case to be but was hoping there was a trick I missed.

The server does have ATI installed (but is due for an OS update) so I'll check that out.

Thank you for your assistance - Eric
