Backup Options button does nothing, no display or modifiation of the backup settings is possible
Posting here as others may benefit.
Hardware: Win 10 machine running ATI 2021 backing up to an external hard drive.
Observed behavior: On the "Backup" tab within ATI 2021, I push the "Options" button in the lower right hand side of the screen and nothing happens. Usually the Options button brings up the settings dialogue when you can configure the backup options, but not this time.
Underlying cause: Unbeknown to me, Windows had re-assigned the drive letter of the external drive that houses the ATI backup datasets. When I pushed the Options button within ATI 2021, it could no longer find the backup dataset location as the drive letter had changed. ATI does not display any helpful error message when this happens; it just does nothing.
Solution: (There is probably a more sophisticated solution, but this is what I did.) Right click Start and go into Disk Management. Re-assign the drive letter for the external drive containing the ATI backup datasets to a higher letter in the alphabet. Choose a letter that is high enough in the alphabet so that the next time you need to mess about with some other external drive or two, the external drive letter containing the ATI datasets will not be affected. Now in doing this, I clobbered the old ATI backup datasets, but having ATI re-generate all new backup datasets is faster than troubleshooting ATI error handling behavior.
