Downgrade ATI2021 -> ATI2020
Since I, as many others, have significant problems with ATI2021, I want to downgrade to ATI2020.
Does anybody have experience with this?
1. Should I uninstall ATI2021 and do a fresh install of ATI2020?
How do you do this?
1. Control Panel – Program&Features – Uninstall Acronis OR
2. Execute AcronisTrueImage2021_30290.EXE and uninstall from here OR
3. Use e.g. REVO Uninstaller
I suppose that in each of these cases, I lose the sequence numbering of the backups that I have made with ATI2020?! Meaning, I have to backup everything again, from scratch. Even the backups stored in the Cloud. This will take me days!!! ☹
2. Can you, instead, install ATI2020 over ATI2021? And possibly keep all the backups that you have made, also the backups in the Cloud?
3. What about the license key? My last valid key is an ATI2019-key. Since ATI2019 I did upgrades. Can it be used for an ATI2020 installation?
Thank you sharing your experience!
BTW – ACRONIS SUPPORT WHERE ARE YOU? We don’t hear/see anything!

Luk, the following is what I have advised other users via the Beta forums.
In terms of starting over and getting back to 2020, then you will need to do a full clean uninstall of 2021, starting off by doing a normal uninstall via the Control panel, Programs & Features which will use the Acronis uninstaller. Follow this by doing a restart of Windows.
After the restart, go into Task Manager and check that there are no Acronis Services or Processes still shown.
See KB 65464: Acronis True Image 2021: Windows services and processes for details of what to look for.
Assuming that the check is good and nothing is shown, then in Explorer go to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\ and either make a copy of all the contents then delete them or else rename the parent Acronis folder.
Also check:
Acronis folders.
C:\ProgramData\Acronis
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis
C:\Program Files\Acronis
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Acronis
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Acronis\
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Roaming\Acronis
Clean any of the above if found then do a quick check in the Registry in.
HKCU\Software\Acronis
HKLM\Software\Acronis
HKCU\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acronis
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Acronis
Once all the above is clear, then try a clean install of ATI 2020 using an Administrator account.
Your existing backups should be fine if they were created by either 2020 or 2021 and you can use the option in the main Settings page to export the task settings to a zip file then bring these back again using the import option.

Apparently, I need courage and a lot of time for this operation to succeed.
Courage I have, time is another question.
So I will need another quality: Patience 😉
Thanks for your support!

I have reverted from Acronis 2020 to Acronis 2019.
Got refunded too.
Uninstalled 2020 using 3rd party uninstaller.
Clean Installed 2019. Still working with no bugs.
Will check 2021.

I used Apps & Features (windows 10) to get rid of Acronis True Image 2021 on both of my computers. I then downloaded / installed ATI 2020 with success, now I'm experiencing no problems with the old version.
