Missing version 1
I have a full backup but can't restore it because version 1 is missing. There must be a way around it. If not why not?

What version of ATI are you using here? Is it ATI 2021 as per this forum?
What type of full backup? Disks & Partitions or Files & Folders?
What file type? Is this a .tibx backup or a .tib?
Have any files been deleted from your destination storage location?
The most common reason for errors related to missing versions is caused by files being deleted outside of the options provided by Acronis, i.e. in Explorer. ATI records details of all files that are created in an internal database, so deleting files via Explorer does not update the database information and can cause the backup chain to be corrupted, especially with .tibx chains!

I am actually using the 2017 version of Acronis.
I do only full disk backup which I store on an external drive. The files are .tib files. As the destination drive gets full I delete the oldest version on that drive.
There must be a way to restore from a full backup regardless of some version 1. This is very strange.
Thanks for confirming the version as ATI 2017.
If you are deleting files on your external drive using Explorer then this is why the error is being posted.
You can try doing a validation of your backup task and taking the Ignore option if offered / else clicking on the Cancel option, and keep doing this for all missing files reported.
The alternative would be to use the Acronis Rescue Media for the recovery which doesn't use the database.

Gilbert, you could also consider setting up a Cleanup rule to let Acronis delete the oldest versions so it keeps its database consistent.
