Update 2 Oddity

Thread needs solution

After installing Update 2 all protection was off - I had the traditional (pre ATI 2021) protections active before running the update.

Clicking on "turn protection on" restored my customised protection settings.

Rather odd.

I found the opposite here Ian...!

I had all protection 'Turned off permanently' and was using Microsoft Defender prior to upgrading to #34340 but after the upgrade, Acronis had ignored my 'Permanent??' turn off status and had turned on Active Protection along with the new Vulnerability scan feature, just leaving Cyber Protect turned off!

When I tried to turn Protection off permanently again, it told me it couldn't do so at first, as was running the background vulnerability scan (unannounced!) which later reported it had found 76 vulnerabilities!

After a bit of playing around to once more get protection turned off, it did show this but still left all the other background protection services active / running and updating etc!

The above is what was shown in the system tray icon listing!  I haven't turned Protection back on in order to discover what these 76 new vulnerabilities detected are, especially as only ATI is finding these!

I installed on two machines, both with protection off before the install as I use Avast AV.

On each machine, protection was off after the install. On my experimental machine I had disabled some of the download functionality (aakore) and it was still disabled after the update. It therefore kept failing to download protection updates. After reenabling that functionality it worked as expected.

On the other machine, it originally opened up to the protection page and seemed to be checking things, but then switched to the page saying "Protection is stopped permanently". The left column says "Protection was not updated". I turned on protection and manually downloaded the protection update.

On my test machine I saw no vulnerabilities but on the other machine I see
Flash Player for Firefox and Safari
Java Runtime Environment
Windows 10, version 1903 and later

I suspect it's just telling me that there is something for which I don't have the absolute latest version. I think I'll just ignore that.

... and turn protection off again.

Vulnerability scanning was enabled although Advanced Protection & Active Protection are disabled under Protection.

Before I updated to 34340, I checked my settings . Ransomware and Illicit crypto mining were both on. After the install completed there was a message about checking updates and then a message appeared that said something like "protection was permanently turned off" click here to turn it on. Very odd to say the least. I'm running TI2021 Standard and do no have the Cyberprotection trial installed.

Feedback sent to Acronis.

The build version causes errors on the fly. Existing settings are ignored and changed during installation.
Slowdown of the whole computer system is the result.
Switching off the protection components is not followed.
