Yet another Dashboard problem!!

Thread needs solution

Since upgrading to ATI 2021 #39184 I have started getting notifications from the online Dashboard about backups from a PC that I had deliberately deleted from the Dashboard previously.

At first I accepted that installing the new build would cause this, so deleted the PC again from the dashboard only to find that it has been added back again automatically, ignoring the fact that I had deleted it only yesterday!

So what is the point of having a Delete option in the dashboard if ATI is going to ignore it????

Support case submitted for this issue with screen images showing the PC being deleted yesterday and being shown back in the dashboard again today!

I have set the Acronis Managed Machine Mini service to Manual start and stopped the service to allow for the PC to be deleted yet again!

Quick update: leaving the Acronis Managed Machine Mini service set as Manual and Stopped kept the dashboard from adding back the PC overnight and when it did scheduled backups this morning!

No response from Acronis yet to the Support case submitted yesterday!

Support case 04844515 now open for this issue!  Initial response from Acronis support below!

As I understand you correctly, you're facing an issue with deleting the system from the Acronis family dashboard.

I will be happy to help you.

First of all, thank you for sharing the screen shots, based on the issue represented while deleting the system from the Acronis family dashboard I would request you to first uninstall the Acronis True Image 2021 from the 'STEVE-9OP3KKF0' and post that try to delete the entry in the family dashboard.

I have replied:

Sorry but I have no intention of deleting ATI 2021 Premium from my main PC system just to be able to use the Delete option to remove that PC from the online Dashboard, and there is no need to do so!

Stopping the Acronis Managed Machine Mini Service and setting this to Manual start has allowed me to delete the PC from the Dashboard again!

The core issue that I am reporting here is that if I allow the Acronis Managed Machine Mini Service to start again, it causes the PC to be added back again to the Dashboard!

This is a change in behaviour since upgrading to build #39184 for ATI 2021 that did not happen with previous builds and didn't happen with previous versions of ATI.

Please escalate this issue to the Acronis Expert Team to be investigated.

I await the next response!

Time for a full update on this issue!

Acronis reply to my support case on 9th April:

I would like to inform you that by design it is not possible to delete the system from the dashboard after the license is activated on a computer.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused and I understand your concern. To ensure that the Management and the Development team are aware of this, I am going to enter your comments into our ‘Customer Listening System’.  The feedback we submit here is used to drive major changes in support and Acronis as a whole.  It is a vital initiative in Acronis and is taken very seriously.  I am sorry, your experience did not meet your expectations, as I said; I will make sure your concerns are reviewed by the Management and the Development team.

My response to the above message:

Sorry but I do not accept your comments here as it has always been possible to delete any system from my dashboard and it stayed deleted until such time as I upgraded to a new build or installed a new version of ATI.  This has changed since build 39124 was released.

Why is there even an option to allow users to Delete selected offline systems in the dashboard?

Just registering this issue in your Customer Listening System is basically a cop out to avoid fixing an issue that Acronis have introduced whether by design or not!

I would request that this issue is escalated as there are many users who also use this option, especially when installing ATI on client systems where they do not want the clients to use the dashboard to potentially access backups from other, different clients!

There are so many recent changes being introduced by Acronis that demonstrate that the company no longer cares about their legacy users or wish to retain them, this being another example alongside the dropping of perpetual licenses and forcing users into subscription services for features that many do not want or need, i.e. Cyber Protection.

Acronis reply received this morning - April 13.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience caused to you

I would like to inform you that once you activate the license on your computer you would not be able to delete the system from the online dashboard

The feedback is already captured on the ‘Customer Listening System’ and I will make sure it is reviewed by the development team

I would appreciate if you could confirm that shared solution resolved the issue in your reply to this email.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. We will be glad to assist you.

My response to the above message:

This issue is NOT resolved and I do not accept the solution that you keep repeating!

This is a direct contravention of the European Data Protection rules (GDPR) that allows each person to control what data is held about them or their property.

Acronis are breaking the GDPR rules by automatically registering my systems in their Dashboard system without allowing them to be removed or opted out of this form of data collection.

I would suggest that you escalate this matter to someone who understands the legal implications of not allowing users to remove their systems from the Acronis Dashboard data collection!

Once more, I will repeat that this is a change in behaviour from earlier versions of Acronis True Image where I have other systems using older versions with no PC's being registered again in the Dashboard after they were deleted!

For any other users with ATI 2021 build 39184 or later, if you have previously deleted your PC's from the Acronis Dashboard, then you too will find that they have been added back automatically by having these builds along with the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini service active!

One other reason for wanting to not have PC's shown in the Dashboard has been shown again today in ATI 2020 Forum topic: ATI is 2020 ignoring my backup options - where the users backup settings were being reset by having the AMMSM service active!!  This is reminiscent of the major issues caused by the Acronis Dashboard late last year causing lots of systems to have their backup configuration options reset!
