Cloning a Disk with bad blocks

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I tried to to clone my 160 GB HDD with Win 2003 Server on it. It took VERY long and I got plenty of messages that various block could not be copied. Thus I cancelled this cloning procedure.
However I really need to clone this disk since it got a setup on it someone else installed and I got no clue...

Now how shall I proceed? I was thinking first a chkdsk and then retry cloning?

Thanks for your ideas.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will definitely assist you.

Yes, running chkdsk with the /r parameter will help you, please note of this minor inconvenience as well.

As an alternative to cloning, you can create a partition backup instead and then restore it using the bootable media.

Please check our user guide on pages 28 and 43 for backup and recovery instructions.

If you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.
