Disk image is showing as GPT disk

Thread needs solution

Hi Guys

I'm trying to restore an image taken from a raid 5 array that includes the windows7 partition as well as the data partition.

The issue is that the image shows that the disk was a gpt dynamic disk rather than a basic mbr.

To restore this image to a new raid5 array would I need to setup the disk as GPT dynamic first or would it be better to restore the backup and then covert the disk to gpt dynamic using disk director 11?

I hope this makes sence?

R.

Hello Rikki,

Thank you very much for your post. I will definitely assist you with your question.

Basically there are 2 ways that you can proceed using Acronis True Image Echo software.

1. If you perform a regular recovery, the restored disks will be basic. There should be no problems with booting though.

2. You can use our software to convert your TARGET disks to dynamic and then perform the recovery. Your TARGET disk will then by dynamic. No issues there.

3. Back to point 1. After recovery, you can then use any software to convert your basic disks to dynamic, using Windows native tools for example.

Feel free to use our User Guide for additional information. Page 44 for information regarding recovering dynamic volumes and page 58 about creating dynamic volumes.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
