A few problems

Thread needs solution

Hi.
Sorry for my english...

Until a few weeks ago I was using ATI Echo server 9.7. I started trying ATI 14.
Btw, I'm using only the boot CD, I'm not interested in the Windows program.

It's a good program but I noticed a few problems:
  1. Every time I tried to use a backup made by the 9.7th version it's saying this when I'm trying to boot: "A disk read error has occurred\nPress Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
  2. I set to restart automatically after but never restarts (9.7th version does that).
  3. Sometimes I have the feeling that the interface is "freezing" because after I click on a button it says nothing, it's not reacting to other clicks and the command for the click is executed after (at least) a few seconds.
The program should show that is busy to the user - a new mouse cursor, a window saying "Please wait"...

I hope these problems will be solved soon...

Hello Catalin,

Welcome to our Forum, it's good to have you with us. I understand your concern, and will be glad to shed the light to the situation.

It's hard to say for sure due to the lack of investigation information, but it's very likely that the error and performance issues you faced are related to the issues on the drive itself. It can be either the errors on the HDD, or SnapAPI glitch. In order to fix the issue please do the following:

  1. Go to Start -> Run -> cmd
This will take you to the Windows command prompt
  2. Issue there the following command
    chkdsk /f /r
  3. Reboot the machine

These steps will ensure us that there are no errors in the file system, and the drive.

After that please install on the problem machine the SnapAPI update I will send you via PM in a minute.

Should the issue remain, please gather Acronis Info, Acronis Report and contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply.
I know about chkdsk, I use it + I use other programs more sophisticated...
I can say that I'm 100% sure that is not a file system, drive, and/or a hardware problem.

I installed the program that you sent me but I have a question: how is gonna help me a Windows program installed in Windows when these problems that I mentioned happens when I use the boot CD (made with Acronis in Windows)?
Sorry for not been more specific about this...

Dear Catalin,

Thank you for your reply and for the details specified!

Bootable media may error out due to the glitch in the kernel drivers. The best solution here is to download from your account the updated bootable media, burn it onto the CD, and check whether everything is working fine.

In case the problem remains, please follow the instructions I've mentioned in the previous comment.

This is important for us, and I would appreciate if you could keep us posted regarding the problem.

Should you have any questions or concern - let us know, we will be glad to assist!

Thank you.
