2010 TI Home Edition Backup doesn't recognize all my sata drives?
I'm using the trial version of Acronis TI 2010 to see if it will work for me and get my feet wet with its features. The first problem I have is that it doesn't recognize all my sata drives. I have 3 Western Digital internal HD's. My C drive is 160 gb, my D drive is a 320 gb drive, and my E drive is an 80 gb drive. I also have a 100 gb external Maxtor Usb drive (H) for my backup. When I click on the backup task, it only lists my C, E and H drives. Why can't it see my 320 gb D drive?
I'm running Windows 7 home edition.

Hello all,
Thank you for your posts. I will definitely assist you.
Doug,
Thank you very much for your help!
Leonard,
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. I am not sure if you are running the program from Windows or using our bootable media. Just in case, I will follow-up with a private message and send you 2 files. The first one is a low-level drivers update that helps to resolve issues with hard disks not getting detected. The second one is the latest version of our bootable media that has the latest hardware drivers.
If the solution provided does not help, please submit a support request, we offer 30 days of technical support for trial versions.
Please include this report if it is a Windows issue or this report if it is our bootable media issue.
If you need additional help, please let me know.
Thank you.

Could someone briefly explain exactly what causes the missing disk issue. I've been using Acronis for about 3 years, and have bought a few new drives over that time, and they were always detected by my old TI 11 boot disk. Many others here appear to not be so lucky. Sometimes disks randomly disappear on me, but as I said before if I try a few times they always reappear.
What I'm asking is what happens with the drivers from one year to the next that causes the incompatibility. It would seem that the basic software interface to a hard drive would be something fairly common that could be abstracted to each physical drive with a HAL inside the drive itself. Or have the mfrs tried to save money by not implementing a HAL, so its turned into a pure s/w interface? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.

I am using the full version of TI Home 2010 and it will not recognize all of my drives. Can you please send me necessary files? Thank you.

Ben,
Are you referring to the Windows installed version of TrueImage 2010 or the Rescue/Recovery CD?
If referring to the CD, then return to your Acronis registration page via the Support button (upper right corner of this web page) and you will find it listed with your serial number and the file wil be listed as "Bootable Media". Download and burn it as an image onto the CD and it becomes an alternate Rescue/Recovery CD using different drivers as opposed to the CD created from the installed version.
More info can be found inside my signature link below under items 2-G and 2-F.
If you are referring to the Windows installed version, then most likely you will need an updated set of SNAPAPI drivers from Acronis support.

Sorry Grover, I should have given you more info to work with. Win7 Pro 32bit, TI Home 2010 build 7046 installed, not the recovery disc. I have 2 500gb SATA drives and I want to use the second to back up to, and Acronis only sees the first one. Windows sees both drives fine. I can read and write to both with no issues. Thanks for your help.

Update: I used one-click back-up and it saw the second drive, but none of the other applications see it (clone drive, etc...).

This may help but I would be sure and do a disk option backup before installing this update.

Didn't work. The SnapAPI I have is newer than that one. I've also removed and re-installed Acronis.

I am having a simmilar problem. Acronis Western Digital version does not recognize my pair of WD Raptor drives in a Raid 0. It does recognize my other RAID array that is currently running my computer, and my WD USB 250GB external drive just fine.
My issue is that I want to copy everything from the 0+1 RAID to the RAID 0 and be able to boot from the faster Raptor dirves in RAID 0. When I open up the clone disk function, it only recognizes the USB drive and the 0+1 RAID array. The pair of WD Raptor drives in the RAID 0 work just fine on the computer, it shows as Local disk D in my computer and I can store files there no problem.
Is there anything I can do to make Acronis recognize the pair of WD Raptor drives in the RAID 0 array?
I'm not opposed to buying the full version of Acronis, so I downloaded the trial version and the clone disk function is disabled, so I don't know if it will see it either. System is Vista Ultimate 64bit, motherboard is EVGA 790i FTW with onbaord RAID controller.
Thanks,
Steve

Hello all,
Thank you for posting and your help is appreciated Grover.
Ben, if SnapApi update did not help, please contact our Support team with the AcronisInfo report so that we can investigate and resolve this issue.
Steve, you can try the following. Our software uses low-level drivers called SnapApi to work and detect hard drives. Backup operations as well as cloning use the same drivers. Try creating a backup, this is possible with the trial version and check if your RAID 0 is detected.
Just in case, I would also recommend this KB article that has a complete list of all articles related to Acronis True Image 2011 Home.
By the way, we offer a 40 % discount for upgrading from OEM versions, please check this article for additional information.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

Anton,
Thank you for the response. I tried the backup and it dies not see the drive either. I also tried the SnapApi like you suggested as well with no luck. I will read the articles when I get home today. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Hello Steve,
Thank you for replying and you are very welcome.
There is a chance that the bootable media will be able to detect your hardware, please create it and boot from it. This can at least serve as a temporary workaround.
We also offer tech support for the duration of the trial period of the program. You can check this article first, try the solution and then collect the information that is shown at the bottom of the article and contact our Support team.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
