2011 CD claims backup and destination are on the same driv

Thread needs solution

I'm at the black screen/flashing cursor stage. I have recent backups on a Samsung 1Tb external hard drive and a boot recovery disc. I chose the backup I want to restore in Partition Recovery, then go to chose the location to restore to (C drive on WG 500 Gb drive). First, the ONLY option is New location. Second, if i chose the C partition on the WG drive (about 240 Gb), it says the backup and destination are on the same drive and I'm stuck. Any advice? I've done lots of restores with Acronis at different times, but can't remember if it was with this version. I urgently need this computer working

When using the Rescue Media, if the target drive is un-allocated or is about to be overwritten, the request for a new location is correct, and you would need to continue with the restore/recovery by selecting the destination from that screen.

Please take a look at these guides that Grover has provided (Thanks, Grover):

Esp. link #1 and Link #2.

Also link #3 inside that link shows how to restore C only or use the same procedure and recover a different partition. The key to correct identification is NOT to use the drive letters but use the volume, disk size, used space, etc.
