2011 rescue CD hangs with some wireless mice/kbds
I'm taking the liberty of starting a new thread now that I have a little more information about what's going on.
I haven't quite convinced tech support that there's a problem, so maybe others with similar issues can add to this. Or benefit from it.
The test machine: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. i7 processor, EVGA x58 motherboard. Logitech MK520 wireless mouse/keyboard combo. TIH 2011.
The problem: if I boot the latest rescue CD (from the installed TIH or downloaded) it hangs solid after I select full Acronis from the menu screen. It displays the Acronis splash, and hangs there. Prior to the hang, the keyboard works but the mouse doesn't.
The "solution": use wired USB mouse and keyboard, or use _some other_ wireless combo. A Logitech LX310 wireless combo works. Mouse and keyboard are functional, no hang.
A few more morsels of info: kernel boot-time options don't make a difference. In particular, removing "quiet" _does not_ result in any boot messages. Just the splash.
Either wireless combo works on my i3/EVGA H55 machine, but with the MK520 it goes direct to full Acronis, with no menu screen, and no splash of any kind.
A friend's i7/EVGA x58 machine with a different wireless mouse exhibits the hang also.
I repeat, the problem isn't that the mouse doesn't work (although that's a problem) it is that it causes the Acronis CD to lock up solid.
Anyone else seeing this?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The generated CD and the downloaded ISO work/don't work in the same way. Both hang if my MK520 kbd/mouse set is plugged in.
I should also have said that I can select System Report or Safe from the initial menu screen and either of those "work". (The Safe mode at least doesn't hang. But it's really hard to navigate in, and no USB support) It's just when I select full Acronis that I get the immediate hang.

As far as the SAFE mode is concerned, you should be having USB support if it is natively supported by your PC's BIOS. The SAFE mode uses BIOS calls rather than drivers.
Check in your BIOS to see if there is a legacy option, this may get the USB working.
Hopefully Acronis will see your thread, and might be able to come up with a special ISO version for your machine, unfortunately this would mean you'd need to ask for a new ISO for each build, unless they manage to fix the problem. The ISO version uses a different and more up to date kernel, it is also updated more frequently., so it might also be that suddenly there will be an ISO available that will work.
If you have purchased the Plus Pack there is the WinPE3 option.
You need WAIK 3 on your PC (massive free 1GB6 download). With this you would be able to make a WinPE3 rescue disk with TIH on it which should allow you to use your keyboard/mouse as this is a Windows environment.
Once WAIK is downloaded and installed, just start Media Builder again but select the WinPE version

Thanks for the info.
I had looked at the WinPE option earlier, but got the impression that it wouldn't build in my 64-bit Win 7 environment.
I'm kind of fond of Linux anyway, and my mouse/keyboard combo work fine in the several Linux and Solaris bare-metal installs I have on this machine. I'd like to think that the Acronis engineers will deal with it eventually. It is a common configuration, I imagine.
For that matter, they work OK in 2010 with the update for wireless input devices. 2010 itself - that's another matter. The file browser causes my HD LED to flash constantly, the browser constantly redraws the left pane, and mouse and keyboard just beep. Sheesh.
My BIOS does have USB legacy emulation options for mouse, keyboard, and media so the Safe thing might be an option. Maybe I should just give up and buy a wired set :)
The real problem with this bug is that it isn't at all obvious that it is caused by the mouse or keyboard. Acronis just halts. I only found it by throwing *stuff* at the wall until something stuck.

It is somewhere in the knowledge base, there is a way of getting the kernel to produce a list of what it has loaded and where it stops tends to be the hardware that has caused the problem.
Hmm, it might be as simple as pressing F8 when Acronis Loader..... is showing which will get you to a Linux shell and you just remove the word QUIET.

It's F11. As I mentioned up-thread, Ive tried that. It doesn't produce any boot messages. It crashes immediately with no output.
