2012 won't recover 2011 images

Thread needs solution

I have been using ATIH 2011 build 6868 or close to that. I have been making scheduled backups to a second hard drive in my computer. At first a full image is made, then 5 additional images are made, only noting the changes since the previous image. Then, the 6th image will again be a full image, and so on. The images are named the date.

I have just upgraded (foolishly) to a purchased 2012 edition. Now, the 2012 edition will not allow me to recover any of the 2011 images. It keeps asking me to locate the various versions.

Before I cancel 2012 and go back to 2011, can anyone suggest what may be the fix to what's happening?

Stephen,

If ATI is asking to "specify the location of volume X" simply choose browse and point at the Xth backup in the chain.
If you can validate the backups this way, you are in good shape for recovery.

After you have installed 2012, just set up new tasks in different directories. Keep your 2011 recovery CD, and produce a new one with 2012. When your 2011 backups are old enough, you will be able to delete them from within ATI and manually, if you choose to.

You are probably facing a problem with the internal database in ati2012. ATI tries to find all your backups when it loads under windows, it it doesn't always figure out how to group tibs with backup /task settings. And sometimes it gets lost and orphans backups. The backup tibs are still good, it sjsut the ati fornt end that's confused.

IF you wnat to recover a backup, best to browse for the backup from within ati (even better, use the ati bootcd for recvoery). IF your backup has incs, choose the latest inc that you want to backup.
