"Access to the file or folder is denied"

Thread needs solution

Hello there,

When using Acronis to "Recover" from my non-stop backup, the window to browse the backups appears with a message at the top displaying "Access to the file or folder is denied". A spinning "loading" type circle is present below that but nothing ever loads.

The "Last backup" date and time is just a few minutes prior to attempting the recovery, so it appears Acronis is able to write to the directory.

The backup is saved at "\\\backups\\Nonstop Backup" and not to a mapped drive.

I am able to browse to this folder and view the contents using Windows Explorer.

I don't see where I'm able to configure a username or password for accessing the backup location in Acronis. It shouldn't be a problem as I haven't changed the login credentials.

Thanks for any help.

Anybody have any suggestions for this?

I'm on the verge of simply requesting a refund for this software as I'm finding it to be quite unreliable.

Thanks.

Oh, it appears the forum software has removed part of the UNC for the backup location. Let's try again:

"\\\Backups\\Nonstop Backup"

EDIT.. nope, not working either.

Maybe this?
"\\[server_name]\Backups\[desktop_name]\Nonstop Backup"

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive. e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

It should also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\

ATI will not automatically detect a NAS drive. Once you start typing the destination path (click "Browse", type in the "File name" field), you will be prompted for a username and password. You must use enter the username and password that has permissions to access the NAS share you are saving to.

Many users have had issues with NAS, not because of Acronis but because the router gets overloaded with data throughput and cannot keep a consistent enough connection with the NAS for True Image to image or restore.

Thanks for that, but as you can see from above I'm already using UNC paths and not a mapped drive.

It's also not a NAS but a shared folder on another PC.

It's still a drive accessed over the network.

Try using the LAN IP, rather than that friendly name. Yours does appear as though it's mapped, as that is not a full LAN path.

Is this over WiFi?

I'm a little confused as how that is a mapped path. It's not mapped as a network drive...

I've attached a JPG here showing that when I type in the address using the IP, I'm unable to click "OK".

Not using WiFi, it's wired gigabit.
