Access to the specified file is denied \\?\UNC\
I have True Image installed on 2 networked PCs at home one running Windows 7 64 and one running vista 64 bit. Both have full access to an external USB drive on the windows 7 64 machine. No backups issues with win 7 pc. If the USB drive is moved to the vista PC no problems.
But when I tried to backup the vista PC to the external USB drive on the Win 7 PC.
I am hoping that it is just a error setup error but where can I get detailed instructions to set up a backup to work across the network?
thanks
bob

I upgraded my XP machine to Win7 32bit professional. (It's all fine with memory and CPU and disk per upgrade advisor). All is working better than before with the notable exception of Acronis TI 2014. I have a 3 license pack and when my 'server' was on XP with a USB drive attached the backup ran fine. Since the upgrade to Win7, I get the above error (Access to the specified file is denied:\\?\UNC\.......(rest of the drive and file path). The machine I'm backing up is part of my home group as is the server. The drive has been shared on the server as have the specific folder with read/write permissions. What could be causing this now when it worked fine for years when the server was running XP? I've attempted to map the specific IP without any different results. Any other direction would be very much appreciated. (The firewall has the Acronis exception for local network traffic)

Perhaps a server permissions or even Windows permissions issue?

I have three machines backing up to NAS. All of the machines are running W7 Pro x64. Two of the three machines backup to the NAS without an issue. One system insists on throwing the "Access to the specified file is denied: \\?\UNC\balance of drive and folder address. error. I can browse for file as suggested in the error dialog and easily find and identify the drive. Acronis cannot find it!
There has to be a better backup solution out there than Acronis - I have been using it since the 2012 release and it has been an ongoing case of frustration and errors. It should not be this difficult - shoot it was a lot easier backing up a $Mega data center than this alleged home user application.
