accessing user data folder from old XP partition

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am running Acronis True Image Home 2010 @ Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

I backed up my old Windows XP before and need access to the user data folder. So I mounted the former c:/ Partition (right click to tib file > mount) and wanted to browse to my user data application data folder. Du to rights restrictions I can not access or extract the user folder nor I can change the access rights, even I am logged on with administrative rights.

Any possibilities to get my data?

Thanks,
André

This is a Windows permissions issue, not an Acronis issue. It's because Windows 7 is more strict about enforcing permissions than XP was.

You need to "take ownership" of those files/folders (Google for instructions how to do that).

The mounted *.tib-File is read only. No ownership changes possible. It seems I have to write back the Image to a harddrive and boot my old Windows XP again. I hope that works.
