Aconis True Image for Windows Servers boot partition problem

Thread needs solution

Hello ,

I have successfully completed an image on a HP Proliant ML350 G5, the problem I now face is there is no option to mark any partition as the boot partition as there is with IBM and Dell Servers. We have read through forums which suggest deleting the old c partition from the array controller, and even after this it still will not pickup as a boot drive.

Has anyone come across the same problem?

Hello Brian,

No worries, I will help you with this situation!

There are several probable causes of this situation:

- Product is not able to detect filesystem in your image

- Product is not able to recognize the operating system in the image

- You have some recovery partition on your source HDD and product is not able to change MBR and boot configuration because it's depended on your recovery partition

In this case, I'd recommend you to recover the image as as (but do not exclude your recovery partition from recovery), probably you will be able to boot your restored system without any difficulties.

In case if your system does not boot and you're receiving the error similar to "bootable partition not found" or "MBR error", or "NTLDR is missing", let's try to fix MBR on the restored system by following the instructions in this article (I assume that you're running Windows Server OS).

If you're not able to boot your system correctly, please clarify the following information so I can provide you with more specific instructions:

1. Could you please let me know the build number of the product, which you can find in the Help -> About dialog (it should be a 3 or 4 digit number)?

2. Which source system have you imaged? Does it contain any hidden partition (including recovery partition)?

3. Does it have the dual boot?

4. Please also collect Acronis Report file (from your source system), which will help us to analyze the structure of your hard drives. In order to create Acronis Report file, please download Acronis Report utility, run it and create a report. The default name of this file is "report.txt" and it is saved on your desktop. Then please attach the created file to your answer in this thread.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Best regards,
