Acronis 2010 services, do I need them running?

Thread needs solution

afcdpsrv.exe - Acronis Nonstop Backup process

schedul2.exe - Executes scheduled tasks on certain events

schedhlp.exe - Notifies Scheduler2 about logon and logoff events

TrueImageMonitor.exe - Provides the interface between running Acronis True Image tasks and user. It allows to observe the tasks progress and cancel the running tasks. This process also displays tray notifications about the task status.

I do not use any of these features. Do I need them running in the background?

I would like to disable all 4 of them if possible. It is causing one of my USB flash drives to detect really slow (38 seconds to detect)

Go ahead. You can research pasts posts on this subject. I assume you are running tasks manually only. You might try updating your USB drivers and, if you usb is driven off of a card, see if there is an updated firmware for that card from the manufacturer.

I think almost everyone turns off or disables nonstop backup. That's probably the only one causing you a problem. I'd start with that and leave the others alone if it resolves your issue. The less you muck with programs these days, often the better. And in terms of resources used, your screensaver probably uses up more than these services do when they aren't in actual operation.

Yes I use ATIH 2010 to run manual monthly backups only. I use no other feature in ATIH 2010.

The only reason I'm disabling those services is because my flash drive takes very long to detect and after disabling them it detects instantaneously. I have not tried disabling them one by one to see which one is causing the problem. I will when I have time.

I'm reading that ATIH 2010 requires schedul2.exe & schedhlp.exe to run manual backups even if I'm not using scheduler. Is that true? Does that mean every time I want to do a backup I need to enable schedul2.exe & schedhlp.exe?

I already found out it's not a problem with my USB drivers. I read that users of ATIH 2012/11/10 need to download the snapAPI update for their USB flash drives to detect again. Problem is I only found a update for 2012 users, I use 2010.

Is there a snapAPI update for 2010 users? or am I left in the cold?

Yes, you need schedhlp.exe to run manual backup. I think you can do withou the schedul2.exe (the scheduler itself). I doubt these are the services that create the issues with the USB drives. For this, I'd lean towards the non-stop backup service.

Hi Pat L, it seems Acronis needs schedhlp.exe & schedul2.exe to run even manual tasks.

OK. Good to see the confirmation. Thanks.

Did you solve your USB issue?

Yes it seems that the USB delay issue has been resolved, or worked around to be precise.

I set schedul2.exe in services.msc to manual and re-enabled schedhlp.exe to start with Windows and those two don't seem to interfere with the USB delay issue.

At this point I can safely say it's either afcdpsrv.exe or TrueImageMonitor.exe or both that's causing the USB flash drive delays.
