Acronis 2011 and 2009 Backups To NAS
I have a copy of Acronis 2011 on my own laptop and 2009 on my wife's laptop (backups are less critical here). My environment (home) is simple with just these two laptops, wireless router, and cable modem. Access to my printer and external/USB attach harddrive (mostly backups) involve carrying the laptop to the devices to be plugged in. Both systems are Vista Home Premium.
I would like to purchase a consumer type NAS storage drive for more convenient backups. I know VERY little about NAS devices, but elsewhere in the ATI2012 forum are many horror stories about getting NAS to work with ATI2012. In my naivety I assumed that the NAS could somehow be mapped to a drive letter (as happens when a USB attached drive is plugged in) and all would be simple. I think that I am wrong about this.
What do I need to look for in a NAS drive that will work without a lot of muss and fuss?
Thanks.

Thanks for the helpful comments, Pat.
Given what I have learned from you and my own research, I think that I am going to change my intended strategy and (for now) drop the NAS piece of the equation.
