Acronis 2012 can't handle RAID?
I use an Intel ICH10 RAID controller to support a 3 disk RAID 5, which is where I keep my backups. I restored from this array several times using my Acronis 2011 boot disk.
Since 2012 when I try to use the boot disk I get an error about my RAID Array not being recognized (kernel doesn't have drivers for "raid 45" or something like that), then a few messages about sectors on the disk being unreadable. Once Acronis finally starts I can't see my RAID, just individual disks all of which are undreadable and one which is not even initialized (they're all fine).
Now when I put my Acronis 2011 disk back in everything works just fine. Any idea how to get 2012 working on my RAID, or do I need to step back a version?

Try to download the latest bootable media from your Acronis account and burn is as an ISO. If this doesn't work, the 2012 version went backwards for you. You should contact Acronis support and you might have to go back to 2011 until they fix the issue, if they fix it.

The same "device-mapper target type 'raid45' is not in the kernel" error here with Acronis TrueImage 2012! I have downloaded the latest bootable media and nothing is recognized, in this case 4 disks in raid5 with Intel ICH10 and Asus Rampage III Extreme. Now I can't recover my whole machine because the raid went bad and I had to (low level) format the hard disks. I can't believe that a >$10,000.00 machine is down because of a $29.00 software!!!

I came back to try acronis 2012 after using ghost for the last two years because of all the problems with the original 2010 release. I put in the boot disk and it totally hosed my 4 disk RAID 5 Intel configuration. It said the disk count in the array was wrong and when I rebooted without the Acronis CD boot disk, I got a missing operating system error. I went into BIOS and found a degraded array and opted for a rebuild. The system came back up and is now rebuilding. Somehow, the cd boot disk added an unknown port/disk to the array and I get have what used to be a 4 disk array indicated that it is a 5 disk array with one missing. This is really strange since all by ports are used and this places 7 ports on a 6 port controller.
I will let you know what happens, but I am not happy that a CD ROM boot disk can so screw up my array.

"* Acronis True Image Home 2012 does not support the following dynamic volume types: Mirrored and RAID-5. There are some additional limitations on operations with dynamic and GPT disks:
To perform operations with dynamic disks, you need separately purchased Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack."

I've been using TI 2012 with my four-drive RAID-5 array (runs off of a 3ware card) without issue. I'm backing two systems (desktop with AMD chip, this is where the RAID-5 is, laptop with intel chip). From the RAID I have also successfully run a restore when I had a boot drive failure on my desktop.

I wish I'd seen this prior to purchasing Ti2012 about a month ago... Now I'm stuck with a Raid5 config on an x79 Intel (c600) controller that I cannot restore to..
I contacted support via chat - but to no avail..
I dont know if I need a plus pack or what - but I'm truely annoyed that I will need to make additional purchase(s?) to get this to work..

Hello Janus,
Thank you for your post.
If Linux bootable Media does not detect used Raid system, than you need a BartPe, which is available for free in your myAccount.
If you need additional assistance, then please contact Acronis Support. Find more information in our Customer Handbook.
I checked your data and found an existing case, that suggest exact the same. Please communicate within the case via E-Mail.
If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.
Thank you.

Please download the 2013 trial, but do not install it. Register your 2013 trial serial number in your Acronis account. After registering your serial number, download the 2013 trial bootable media ISO and burn it to a disk. Try using it to check if your chipset is supported in it.
http://www.acronis.com/products/tryorbuy.html If the 2013 bootable media recognizes your RAID array properly, you could use it to restore/recover from using your existing .tib files.
I find that the purchase of the Plus Pack is the way to go. It provides extra features as well as the ability to create an WinPE based Rescue Disk.
If you purchase the Plus Pack, here are some suggestions.
You can install the Windows Automated Install Kit (AIK) for Windows 7, inject the drivers for your Intel X79 (c600) into the base winpe.wim, and then use the Plus Pack Acronis WinPE ISO Media Builder to create a bootable ISO image that contains the drivers your need. I have done this with 2010, 2011, 2012 versions of True Image and have had good results. The drivers you need are in the Intel RSTe AHCI/RAID/SCU software download you can find here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3449&Dwnl…
The drivers are located in the .zip file in the "drivers folder". You would only need the 32 bit (x86) drivers for injection into the winpe.wim file.

Hi Janus, let me do some testing and get back with you - I think there is a solution that will work without you having to spend money, but I want to do some testing and "tinkering" with it first. I have a PC with Raid-5 set up on it to test with.
Of course, an easy solution is to get larger hard drives and run a Raid-1 configuration - and I'm joking when I say that.
Let me test for a few days and I'll report back.
