Acronis 2014 Restore failed

Thread needs solution

Had an issue that caused me to attempt to go back with system restore.  Went into safe mode using mscfg.exe and rebooted.  Wouldn't come out of safe mode after multiple attempts.  Had an acronis image of the drive from a few days prior so I thought --- no problem - restore the image and move on.

Now I get a message that there is no operating system found - disconnect all drives that does not have an operating system.

Did that - no dice.  Restored again with changes to the active partition and messed up the MBR.  Did that - no luck.

My machine is set up with 3 hard drives. The first drive is an SSD and has 3 partitions. 0 = system partition, 1 = drive c: for operating system and programs, 2=factory recovery partition.

Drive 2 (drive f:)  scsi drive that contains my data files"

Drive 3 (drive G:) scsi drive that contains all my backups which are set to automatically happen every night.

Tried using the Windows 7 system disk to repair it but it's not compatible because I switched to Windows 10 around the first of the year.

I was missing some system files when I ran sfc.exe a month or so ago which I fixed with a windows 10 iso file and DISM.exe.  The iso file is on the backup drive but I can't get to it without the operating system.

I read in another post that Acronis 2014 home is not compatible with Windows 10.  What do I do now?

What type of a backup did you create.  Was this a disk image or a partition image?
Did you create the backup before or after Windows 10 installed?

If your backup was a disk image backup (all partitions), then you might try a disk image restore. This is covered in my signature item 3 but item  2 inside that link, which is a disk image restore guide.

If that fails, another option would be to  restore a backup from the Win 7 system and then upgrade again to 10.

I just got it.  Used my other computer to burn a Windows 10 ISO cd.  Booted from that and ran advanced repair.  It couldn't repair automatically.  Went to dos prompt.  Ran bootrec /fixmbr.  Then bootrec /fixboot.  Then bootrec /rebuildbcd.  Rebooted.  New error - couldn't find the operating system.  Rebooted from ISO and let it automatically fix.  This time it found the Windows10 partition and I selected it and it worked.  It's up and seems to be working properly on the couple of programs I tried.

Thanks for responding.
